The process of fixing this error involves deleting the local folder where the updates are downloaded and then manually download and install the update from Microsoft's website.

Starting off, disable the Windows update service first.
Hit Start, type Run, type in services.msc and hit Enter. Scroll down and look for Windows Update, right click or double click and hit Stop.
Now navigate to C:Windows, look for folder SoftwareDistribution and delete it.
Restart your machine and try to install the updates. This MAY work for some but did not in our case.
